6 Time-Saving Tips for Commercial Paint Spraying Projects

In this article, we've created a list of actionable advice on setup, masking, drying times, and spraying techniques to cut down time on your commercial paint spraying projects, without compromising quality.

1. Use a WideRAC switch tip

If you're airless paint sprayer can support a larger tip size, the WideRAC switch tip covers double the surface area and cuts your time in half with a 24 inch wide pattern. These tips are designed for projects requiring larger airless sprayers, usually involving high production and new construction applications. Check your paint container or spec sheet for specified tip sizes.

2. Add a second spray gun

Most airless paint sprayers can accommodate two spray guns. Although you'll need to ensure the multiple gun tip rating of the sprayer can support your tip sizes, it's a great way of maximizing your sprayer and minimizing the time spent on each job site.

3. Keep extra tips and parts on hand

Keeping extra parts handy prevents downtime. Some paints are more abrasive than others, so tips will wear down faster with latex paints due to the solids used int he manufacturing process. Being shut down because the tip no longer works on your sprayer or you have to run to the hardware store for the 100th time, will cost you big at the end of your project. Spraying with worn tips is a very costly mistake!

Other spare parts needed are replacement cords, fuses, repair kits, inlet strainer, and other small parts depending on the type of sprayer you're using.

4. Get the right GPM

When selecting the correct airless paint sprayer for your jobs, Gallons Per Minute matters! GPM Measures the pump's output capacity and the tip's hole size. More GPM equals more work completed on larger projects. Calculate the total hours you intend to work your sprayer per work and get the right sprayer for the job.

5. Get the right power source

Wasting time trying to find power for your airless paint sprayer when most of your job sites don't have easy access to electric makes an electric sprayer a poor choice. Consider gas, battery or compressed air when working on commercial or industrial job sites.

6. Choose the right sprayer

Choosing the right airless paint sprayer for your jobs is the single most important way to save time on the job. More power doesn't always translate to the right sprayer for your job. Use the chart below to determine which airless paint sprayer is right for you.
